Live & Let Live: Year Five

It’s honestly hard to put into words how I feel about the growth of this event. LLL started in a small bar that you might now know as Barvina. At the time in 2019, the bar was named Emilio’s and was probably the music venue in the city where I felt the most comfortable. Sings “where everybody knows your naaame”.. IYKYK.

The first LLL consisted of two speakers, two vendors, two resources, 5 music acts that were all different genres, 1 live painter, artwork from 3 artists and one spoken word artist. Fast forward 4 years, and we’ve more than tripled the size of the first and have found our new home for this event at Tang & Biscuit in Scott’s Addition. Thats something to be proud of. Not only for me, but for my community.

To see the rise in interest and compassion towards mental health and recovery is nothing short of heartwarming. I want to THANK YOU for making this possible, for helping me to continue to spread awareness that mental illness should not be a stigma. We all have our struggles and they deserve to have space to be acknowledged. You deserve to be in a space where you are loved for existing and you can let go if only for a little while. We hope you’ll join us in this celebration of life, our doors are open to everyone – theres no cover charge. Make sure to invite all of your friends and family, see you soon!

P.S. In case you were wondering, the line up drops THIS SATURDAY!
